Just a few days away. Looking forward to seeing the community come together on 9 November.

Sarah reaches out

My partner Sarah is instrumental to the success of the annual event and she asked to contribute. Here is what she has to say:

One of my favorite aspects of last year's Messen [annual event] was the number of women and LGBTQ+ community members who came out to play games and the positive energy that brought to the whole experience for everyone. The Messen community is open and welcoming--it's written into the community policies and reflected in the community's 'good spirit' approach to play.

I've had all sorts of experiences at the table over the decades of playing board games--some great, some not so great. Seeing how the Messen community consistently created a genuinely friendly space for all made my heart so happy.
​
I encourage you to invite your friends and family who've been looking for a fun and welcoming place to game to come to Messen. Registration closes November 8 at 8 am Pacific and passes are not available at the door--don't miss out! Join the fun!

Event registration info blast

Speaking of signing up...

  • Tickets still available, though aggressively dwindling. 13% of all tickets sold this weekend.
  • Some categories are sold out.
  • The space can only hold 100 people, so ticket sales are capped accordingly.
  • Tickets are only for sale online and sales close at 8am U.S. Pacific on 8 November 2024. See link below.
  • Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Castles of Wonders Tournament

During the Messen annual community event, a tournament! Consists of several rounds each featuring a different game.

  • Placing in a game = tournament points.
  • Most points at the closing ceremonies = winner.
  • Prizes for winners at closing ceremony.

I have more to say about the tournament during the opening ceremony on Saturday so be sure to be there to hear all about it.

Here is an overarching schedule for the tournament rounds to help you plan:

  1. Saturday, opening ceremony
  2. 12pm, Saturday
  3. 5pm, Saturday
  4. ~9am, Sunday (shortly after open)
  5. 12pm, Sunday
  6. 5pm, Sunday
  7. ~9am, Monday (shortly after open)
  8. 12pm, Monday
  9. Awards at closing ceremony

You sign up for tournament rounds shortly after the opening ceremonies on Saturday.

[Assuming military persona] Rounds will start promptly at the starting time barring unforeseen circumstances. Entry into a round will not be considered after the start time for each round. Short version of the above, don't come late, you won't get in, come in person ready to play early. [End persona] Cheers!

Selling table

There is a selling table at the annual event. Please feel free to bring games to sale. Read more in the general info link below. Some are already posting what games they are selling on the Messen Discord.

Hotel Info

Food & non-alcoholic drink is allowed in the annual event space.

Messen Newsletter Hello Reader, The Messen community event is just 3-weeks away, tickets sales closing date, games being scheduled, shipping, and notes about staying in the hotel...
